Mellow Yellow

Anyone who knows me, knows my love for maxi dresses. It is one item that I feel I can wear at any time of the year. Not only are they easy to wear, they are also appropriate for a plethora of occasions. During warm weather I love accessorizing it and keeping it simple while during winters I like to toughen it up by paring it up with leather jacket.

Finding a perfect maxi dress is always a challenge for me. The problem which I always face is that most of the time they are loose and long for me as I am petite and I have to get it tailored. So while shopping this sale season the idea of making a custom made dress struck me. I had the design in mind and you won’t believe that this dress was once a ‘SARI’. For those of you who don’t know what a Sari is - SARI is a traditional dress worn by Hindu women (comprised of a long piece of fabric that is wrapped around the body). So basically it is recycled from one of my Late Grandmother’s old Sari.

Also One shoulder and yellow are one of the trends to try out this summer. Nicole Miller, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Jenny Packham and many more showcased the uniqueness and universality of this tone in their collections . From amber and canary to saffron and marigold there is a shade of yellow for everyone. When it came to accessories I went the Indian route and opted for Kundan earrings, mang tika, ring and bracelet and a suede purse to give a spin to the westernized outfit.

Dress - Tailor made
Earring, Mang tika - Linking road, Bandra
Bracelet - Borrowed from mother
Ring and Purse - Gifted
